Faculty of Teacher Education

About the Faculty

The Faculty of Pedagogical Education and Biology was established in April 2010 through the merger of the Pedagogical Faculty, the Biology program, and the Chemistry track.

Faculty members closely collaborate with the Ministries of the Republic of Kalmykia, supporting the professional development of teachers and educational staff in biology, chemistry, physical education, and sports. They also provide scientific guidance to methodological associations and participate in subject-specific competitions and Olympiads. Faculty and students assist in organizing citywide contests such as “School of the Year,” “Teacher of the Year,” and the August and January Pedagogical Readings.

Scientists in biology contributed to the publication of the first Red Book of the Republic and study the natural and cultural-historical tourism and recreational potential of Kalmykia. They also participate in the Russian Humanities Scientific Foundation (RHNF) grant project “Development of the Creative Potential of Gifted Children through Regionalization of Environmental Education (based on educational institutions in Kalmykia).”

The Department of Chemistry conducts research on the republic’s oil resources, the structure of biologically active compounds from animal horn preparations, and holds agreements within the framework of the Ministry of Education of Russia’s sectoral scientific program “Federal-Regional Policy in Science and Education.”

The Faculty hosts several centers: the Eco-Biological Center “EcoPro,” the Physical Education and Sports Center “Univer,” and the Shared Research Facility for Biology and Chemistry studies.

The Faculty educates over 1,600 students in both full-time and part-time programs. Students have access to teaching and research laboratories, multimedia classrooms, a sports complex, a zoological museum, herbarium, vivarium, and practical training bases in Tsagan-Aman, Republic of Kalmykia, and “Kamysheva Polyana” in Krasnodar Krai. University sports teams, supervised by the Department of Physical Education faculty, participate in competitions at various levels, from local to international, and regularly achieve prize-winning results.
